Who reads your drawing
- Uploaded drawing: it is read by our own costing program, on our server. No outside artificial intelligence service reads it.
- Local mode: it is read on your computer and sent nowhere (see below).
- It is used only to produce the requested estimate. It is not published, resold or passed to any third party.
Local mode: your drawing never leaves your computer
In the tool, tick “Analyse my drawing on this computer, without sending it” (DXF, PDF and STEP drawings).
- Your browser downloads our reading program, then reads the drawing on your machine. The file is sent to no server, neither ours nor anyone else’s.
- Only measurements are sent to calculate the price: dimensions, volume, cutting lengths, holes, mass, and a few technical notes from the drawing (stock size, tapped holes, surface finish). Never the drawing itself, nor the name, part number or customer written in the title block.
- Before estimating, you see exactly what will be sent.
- The price is the same as when uploading the drawing: it is the same reading program, checked on our test drawings.
- To check it, your IT department can open the browser developer tools (Network tab): no file leaves.
- The reading program is downloaded only from rfqdecoder.com, once (about 45 MB, plus 65 MB for the 3D reader of STEP files), then your browser keeps it in cache. No other service is involved.
- Nothing is stored on our side except the measurements and the estimate result, in our technical logs.
Where the data is
- Calculation server, drawings and logs: Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany.
- The rfqdecoder.com site, through which exchanges pass: OVH SAS, France.
- Payments: Stripe. We never see your card number.
How long
- Box “Delete my drawing at the end of my session” ticked (web tool): drawing deleted as soon as you leave the tool, at the latest 9 hours after the session opened.
- In every other case (API, AI assistants): drawing and derived files deleted automatically 30 days after upload.
- Technical logs (file name, measurements read, estimate result): 12 months.
Access and protection
- Exchanges encrypted with HTTPS and HSTS.
- Access keys: only their fingerprint (SHA-256) is stored; a key is shown once and can be revoked.
- AI assistants: OAuth 2.1 sign-in with PKCE, no password to type on our side.
- Credits, quotas and rate limits per access; an access that sweeps prices is suspended automatically.
If you go through an AI assistant
In ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral or Perplexity, a drawing you drop in the conversation first goes through that assistant, under your agreement with its provider. If your company has an enterprise plan for that assistant, its guarantees apply. Otherwise, use the tool on rfqdecoder.com directly: the drawing then only goes through our servers or, in local mode, never leaves your computer.
Drawings not to send
Do not send drawings subject to export control (ITAR, EAR, dual-use items) or classified documents: the service is not designed for such data.
